What is the Whole30 and How Can It Help You Have a Healthier Holiday Season?

This year, we are offering a 30 day Whole Foods eating challenge from mid-October to mid-November to set folks up for feeling better and making better food choices all winter long.  Check out the short video below to find out how you can get ahead the holidays and prepare to make this the healthiest holiday season ever.

Say No to Holiday Food Stress and Regret!

For many of us, the holidays bring up a lot of baggage around food. Whether it is fear of overeating, weight gain, food guilt, emotional eating to deal with holiday stress, stress around allergies or sensitivities, managing social pressures in group settings, or stress over digestive discomfort- food is a loaded topic.

All About the Whole30 Pre-Holiday Food Challenge

The Whole30 is a popular dietary program and nutritional reset that is designed to help people increase nutrient density, identify and eliminate potentially problematic foods and reset habits and cravings.

For 30 days participants will be supported in following either a traditional Whole30 (no sugar, grains, dairy products, legumes, soy, processed foods and additives) or a plant based Whole30 (removing meat and allowing legumes instead). Participants are also able to make individual modifications to the cleanse to support them and can work with the instructor to help determine appropriate possible modifications.

The primary goal of the Whole30 program is to improve overall health, boost energy levels, and identify potential food sensitivities or allergies by temporarily eliminating certain food groups.

The pre-holiday season is a perfect time to do a whole foods based cleanse! By cleaning up our diet before the holidays we set ourselves up to make better choices once all the candy, cakes and cookies start coming our way.

Doing the Whole30 helps us to reset our palates and reduce cravings for sweet and unhealthy foods, making it easier to resist holiday sweets and treats.

Successfully completing the Whole30 program before the holidays can boost your confidence in your ability to make healthy choices. This confidence can carry over into holiday gatherings, helping you stay on track with your health goals.

The Whole30 program is meant to be a short-term reset that supports positive dietary change in the long term.

The primary benefits associated with doing the Whole30 program include:

  1. Improved Awareness of Food Choices: The program encourages participants to pay close attention to the foods they consume and how those foods make them feel. This increased awareness can lead to better long-term eating habits and choices.
  2. Identification of Food Sensitivities: By eliminating certain food groups for a month and systematically reintroducing them, individuals may identify specific foods that trigger digestive issues, allergies, or other sensitivities. This can lead to more targeted dietary choices and improved overall health.
  3. Reduced Inflammation: Many Whole30 participants report a reduction in inflammation-related symptoms, such as joint pain, skin issues, and digestive discomfort. This is often attributed to the removal of potentially inflammatory foods from the diet.
  4. Enhanced Energy Levels: Some people experience increased energy and improved sleep quality during and after the Whole30 program. This is often attributed to a focus on nutrient-dense, whole foods and the elimination of processed sugars and grains.
  5. Weight Management: While weight loss is not the primary focus of the Whole30 program, some individuals do experience weight loss as a result of making healthier food choices and reducing calorie-dense processed foods from their diet.
  6. Improved Digestion: Eliminating grains, dairy, and legumes can lead to better digestive health for some individuals, as it reduces the consumption of potential irritants and allergens.
  7. Clearer Skin: Improved skin health and a reduction in acne and skin issues are reported by some participants. This is often attributed to the removal of dairy and sugar from the diet, which can be triggers for skin problems in some people.
  8. Enhanced Mental Clarity: Some individuals report improved mental clarity and cognitive function while following the Whole30 program, which may be related to reduced inflammation and stable blood sugar levels.
  9. Better Relationship with Food: The Whole30 program promotes a healthy relationship with food by encouraging mindful eating and reducing reliance on processed and addictive foods.
  10. Motivation for Long-Term Health: Completing the Whole30 program can motivate individuals to continue making healthier food choices even after the 30-day period is over.
  11. Detoxification: By taking out processed sugar as well as other processed foods the body is given an opportunity to potentially remove toxins that have  been stored in the body.
